It won’t commonly be thought of as the best game in the arena of betting, but keno has loads of zealous admirers. As well it should! It’s a consistently entertaining lottery-esque game that’s uncomplicated to master, abundantly available in lots of assorted formats, and one that might pay out millions for people who master its innumerable subtle intricacies. But let’s start with the beginner’s rules here.

When defining keno to amateurs, some gambling experts compare it to bingo. This is at least partly correct, in that both games are fundamentally numerical. Keno cards have a grand total of eighty numbers, but the user is given an additional level of personal responsibility by being able to pick as many (or as few) numbers as she thinks is appropriate. And it doesn’t take a genius to ascertain how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your picked numbers with a standardball point pen like you used back in the day.

Now that you have marked your numbers, carry your card back to the keno pit manager at the keno booth. The nice person will record your numbers and then give you a receipt. Don’t lose this (potentially) valuable piece of paper! Even if the clerk remembers your face and would like to help out, without a winning slip with you, you will win exactly $.00 for your time spent.

So, there you have strategy numero uno: always make sure to keep your keno slip. Let us advance to something a tiny bit more complicated, shall we?

After you’ve checked off your numbers, get yourself into a nice keno booth and watch the action take place on the video monitor. That is where the winning numbers are displayed for all to see. If you’ve got winners, mark your card accordingly. Be sure not to move to slowly, or sit there praising yourself for too great a length of time. You want to get up to the keno stand to get your winnings, as a new round of keno will likely begin within not too many minutes.

Strategy #2: always get back to the keno booth on time!

Assuming you don’t trust yourself to make that 5 minute margin every time, you always retain the option of using a "multi-race" card. These include the self same set of your selected numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 tickets. When the maximum number of rounds (the same as the number of tickets) is played, you will then be able to get off your lazy bum and go redeem your winnings.

Yet an additional opportunity is recognized as a "stray and play" keno ticket, which usually lets you make number picks for 30 rounds or more. Heck, you can take a world tour and not have to worry about getting back in time to redeem your winnings. Most "stray and play" game cards are good for up to a whole year after you by it!

And now you know several needed schemes for winning keno. If you are a good player, they may seem very obvious. However, it does not hurt to study up on the basics, and if you are a beginner keno player, every bit of direction will help make your keno playing time more enjoyable.
